|Mig Kimpton’s history
Mig Kimpton has spent over thirty years working in theatre. From his first job at the Bristol Hippodrome, making coffee and tearing tickets. In the interim, he has run West End theatres, including The Arts Theatre, The Playhouse at Charing Cross, managed tours for Lesley Joseph, Sandi Toksvig, Sian Phillips, Janet Street Porter and Lily Savage, and has toured with Sir Ian McKellen in the UK, South Africa and on Broadway. He has also worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company in a variety of contracts.
As producer, Mig has been responsible for many charity galas, including ten Stonewall Equality Shows at the Royal Albert Hall. In 1993 he joined with Kevin Spacey and Sir Elton John to produce a Grand Concert at the Old Vic Theatre, and was Associate Producer on Aladdin at the Old Vic starring Sir Ian McKellen. He has produced three plays at the Arts Theatre, recently Storm in a Flower Vase based on the life of Constance Spry.
Mig also has a life long passion and career with flowers: he is a floral designer and demonstrator and has won many awards, including ten prestigious medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Following giving up theatre in 2014, he is now concentrating on his floral career. Last year Mig took to the road with his Winter Floral Tales tour. He is currently horticultural adviser and Flower Show Creative Manager for Aztec Garden Shows, that includes Blenheim Palace Flower Show and National Flower Show at Hylands House, Chelmsford.
Later this year Mig takes to the road again with his new show “Shakespeare’s Botanicals” an evening of flowers, herbs and wonderful words, calling at Canterbury, Salisbury, Colchester and Maidenhead.
