Here at Beacon Hill Cottage there is a large under used piece of land called 'The Meadow'. My vision is create a garden full of interest, inspired by Monty Don's garden at Long Meadow and other famous gardens, such as those at Sissinghurst and the nearby Salutation Garden in Sandwich, I want to create a garden of interest and wonder full of plants. I know it will be a slow process, a lot of digging, waiting and possibly battles with the weather! My aim is to be able to pick and use what I grow in my design work and in my floral workshops.
The first bed has been dug and planting is underway, I am creating a white bed full of all sorts of wonderful white plants including lupins, roses, sweetpeas, as well as a variety of evergreen shrubs. As always it will take time to establish and grow.
We have now installed our large dahlia border just before you get to the meadow, all the dahlias have been grown from tubers and are now establishing in the ground.
Watch this space and you are welcome to visit us this year to see how we are getting on.
